The article raises the question of the relevance in modern conditions of studying such a problem as human optimism in life. The importance of this is especially emphasized for identifying the value orientations of student youth - that social group on which the further progress of society will depend. At the same time, the theoretical analysis proves that today there are many different points of view regarding the essence of optimism, which leads to insufficient development of the methodological base for research on this and individually socially significant phenomenon. Therefore, the purpose of the article is to disclose the experience of developing and identifying the diagnostic capabilities of the “Your Life Optimism” methodology in a search experiment,
The object of the study was the process of determining the modality of value orientations of student youth, and the subject - the procedure for improving the diagnostic base for empirical study of such an important component of the value sphere as life optimism.
The research methods were: theoretical analysis of the state of solving the problem of diagnosing life optimism, theoretical modeling, which allowed developing a systemic model of life optimism, a search experiment, within which the proposed methodology was tested by surveying students.
Based on the results of the research,, a theoretical model of life optimism was developed, which contains a number of scales that reflect optimistic tendencies in the system of value orientations of respondents in the following areas of life: world-man, man-society, man-man, initial life principles, life perspective, assessment of current events, modality of self-perception. The ways of searching for the content and form of presenting questions in the structure of the methodology are shown. The directions of possible research are revealed. The results of a regimental study are presented, which proved the constructive nature of the proposed methodology. The prospects for work on its further validation are outlined.
