The article examines the theoretical foundations of the application of art therapy in the psychocorrection of the emotional states of internally displaced persons who have experienced psychological trauma as a result of forced displacement. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to identify scientifically grounded methods of psychological assistance for individuals experiencing the consequences of war, prolonged stress, and difficulties in socio-psychological adaptation.
Purpose. The purpose of the study is to provide a theoretical substantiation of the possibilities of applying art therapy in the psychocorrection of the emotional states of internally displaced persons, to systematize contemporary scientific approaches to understanding its psychological mechanisms, and to summarize the psychocorrective potential of the main art therapy methods.
Methodology. The methodological framework of the study is based on theoretical methods, including the analysis, systematization, and synthesis of scholarly publications on the application of art therapy in the psychocorrection of the emotional states of internally displaced persons.
Results. The study systematizes contemporary scientific approaches to the application of art therapy, summarizes the psychological mechanisms underlying its therapeutic effects, and characterizes the psychocorrective potential of the principal art therapy modalities. The authors propose a conceptual model for selecting art therapy methods that takes into account the characteristics of traumatic experience, the individualʼs current emotional state, psychological resources, and the risk of retraumatization.
Conclusions. The theoretical analysis of scientific literature indicates that art therapy has considerable psychocorrective potential in work with internally displaced persons, as it facilitates the safe processing of traumatic experiences, reduces psycho-emotional distress, mobilizes internal psychological resources, and promotes psychological well-being. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of applying its findings to the development of psychological support and rehabilitation programmes for internally displaced persons. Prospective research should focus on the empirical verification of the effectiveness of individual art therapy methods.
