The article provides a theoretical justification of the pedagogical principles of organizing professional psychological selection of future social workers. The relevance of the study is due to the contradiction between the objective need of society for highly qualified, psychologically prepared for professional activity social workers and the absence of a scientifically substantiated system of professional psychological selection of applicants for social specialties. The traditional selection system, which is based mainly on the results of external independent assessment, does not allow objectively assessing professionally important qualities of future social workers and predicting their professional suitability, which leads to a high risk of professional burnout and staff turnover.
The purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate the pedagogical principles of organizing professional psychological selection of future social workers and develop a conceptual model for its implementation in the educational process of higher education institutions.
The theoretical and methodological basis of the study is a set of theoretical methods - analysis, synthesis, comparison, conceptualization and generalization.
Results. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, professionally important qualities of a social worker were identified and systematized, covering the motivational-value, cognitive, moral-ethical, communicative, emotional-volitional and socio-psychological spheres of the personality. Professional orientation was identified as an integral indicator of readiness for social work, and the moral-ethical sphere - as the basis of the humanistic orientation of professional activity.
Conclusion. The introduction of a scientifically based system of professional psychological selection of future social workers will contribute to improving the overall quality of professional training, reducing possible risks of professional unsuitability, possible maladjustment and emotional burnout, as well as ensuring the training of competitive specialists in the social sphere.
