Abstract

A laser Doppler meter structure is proposed for measuring the three components of the airspeed vector during flight. The detailed diagram of the studied device is presented and described. The components of the structure are characterized. The principle of operation of the meter with a new structure is explained. The calculation of basic parameters of the meter has been done. The expressions for output signals are derived. The ratio signal/noise is estimated. The graphical representations of calculated parameters are shown. The meter enables direct, non-contact determination of key aerodynamic parameters, including airspeed, angle of attack, and sideslip. Compared to conventional pitot-static systems, the laser Doppler meter approach offers higher accuracy and reliability under varying flight conditions. The proposed structure can enhance flight control, stability, and navigation precision, forming the basis for further development of advanced optical air data systems.
