Abstract

The article examines the specific features of architectural and landscape design of memorial parks located on sites of historical burials, using the case of Yevreyka Park in the city of Rivne. It analyzes the transformation of contemporary approaches to memorialization – from traditional monumental forms to integrated landscape environments that operate through perception, spatial interaction, and user experience. Particular attention is given to the influence of religious and ethical constraints, especially Jewish burial traditions, on the formation of architectural solutions. Purpose. To identify the principles of architectural and landscape design of memorial parks on territories of historical burials and to develop approaches for working with multilayered memorial environments. Research methodology. A comprehensive approach was applied, including the analysis of scientific sources, comparative analysis of contemporary memorial practices, historical-spatial analysis of the site, as well as methods of architectural and landscape modeling and synthesis of design experience. Results. The study identifies key trends in the formation of memorial landscapes, including the shift toward sensory perception of space, the strengthening of ethical constraints, and the integration of memorial functions into the public environment. A set of design principles is formulated, including: preservation of burial integrity, working with topography, restraint in form-making, conservation of the natural landscape, and integration into the urban context. Scientific novelty. The novelty lies in the systematization of design principles for memorial parks located on historical burial sites, taking into account religious norms, ecological approaches, and contemporary landscape practices, as well as their application to a specific case study. Practical relevance. The results can be applied in the design of memorial spaces in the post-war period, particularly on sites of mass burials, as well as in the revitalization of historical cemeteries and the development of contemporary memorial parks.
