The article is devoted to a theoretical analysis of contemporary approaches to studying the psychological determinants of professional decision-making among IT specialists. The relevance of the study is determined by the rapid development of digital technologies, the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence systems, the increasing complexity of software products, and the need to make responsible professional decisions under conditions of uncertainty, information overload, and highly dynamic technological change.
The aim of the article is to generalize contemporary theoretical approaches to studying the psychological determinants of professional decision-making among IT specialists and to identify the most significant individual psychological factors influencing the effectiveness of professional decision-making.
Methods. The study is based on a critical analysis of scientific publications addressing the research problem, using comparative analysis, systematization, interpretation, and theoretical generalization.
Results. The article analyzes normative, descriptive, naturalistic, and engineering approaches to the study of decision-making processes and examines the specific features of their application to the professional activities of IT specialists. Particular attention is paid to the role of cognitive reflection, rational-intuitive thinking style, tolerance for uncertainty, behavioral self-regulation, risk propensity, personality traits, and self-confidence as psychological factors in professional decision-making. It is demonstrated that the effectiveness of professional decision-making in the IT sector is determined by the interaction of cognitive, personal, and regulatory mechanisms that enable specialists to act under conditions of uncertainty, evaluate alternatives, anticipate the consequences of their actions, and adapt to dynamic changes in the professional environment.
Conclusions. The theoretical analysis demonstrated the interdisciplinary nature of professional decision-making among IT specialists and the insufficiency of individual approaches for a comprehensive explanation of the psychological mechanisms underlying professional decision-making in a dynamic information technology environment. The effectiveness of professional decision-making was found to be determined by the complex interaction of cognitive, personal, and regulatory factors, including cognitive reflection, rational-intuitive thinking style, tolerance for uncertainty, self-regulation, risk propensity, and self-confidence. A comprehensive empirical investigation of these factors is a promising direction for developing psychodiagnostic tools, psychological support programs, and approaches to enhancing the professional competence of IT specialists.
