Abstract

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of contemporary challenges that shape new requirements for the professional training of social workers amid wartime, socio-economic, and technological transformations. Based on a review of theoretical approaches, international standards, and Ukrainian best practices, the study identifies key future-oriented competencies: ethical, emotional-communicative, digital, innovative, intercultural, and crisis-readiness competencies. Special attention is devoted to the Ukrainian context - large-scale internal displacement, psychological trauma, the recovery of social infrastructure, and information security challenges -  which highlight the need for interdisciplinary approaches and practice-oriented learning models. The article examines the content of updated practical initiatives (including innovative academic courses, field practice, and university partnerships with civil society organizations) that contribute to developing these competencies. Based on identified trends, several educational strategies are proposed: integrating theory and practice through case-based learning, interdisciplinary curricula, blended and distance learning formats, supervision and mentoring practices, as well as modules on digital ethics and safety. The study has applied value for educators, methodologists, curriculum developers, and social work practitioners who need to adapt their approaches to rapidly changing social realities and professional quality standards.
