Abstract

This article studies the operation of a radio rangefinder with correlation processing of a broadband signal under conditions of interference of various types. The article considers the structural model of the radio rangefinder and reveals the key mechanisms of its operation. Separately, the procedures for calculating the signal delay time and integrating the Doppler compensation contour are considered, the use of which is a mandatory condition for preventing degradation (blurring) of the correlation maximum during object movement. The operation of the structural model of the radio rangefinder is modeled in the MATLAB environment under the influence of white Gaussian noise, impulse noise with a Laplace distribution, and non-Gaussian interference with a K-distribution, which are characteristic of reflections from the underlying surface. As a result of the study, the limiting values of the signal-to-noise ratio at which the system is able to correctly distinguish objects were determined: more than -29 dB for white noise, -27.5 dB for K-distribution noise and -21.3 dB for a mixture of white and impulse noise. In addition, the simulation results confirmed the high accuracy of the system: the range measurement error is 0.0625 m, and the resolution reaches 0.375 m. The results obtained prove the feasibility of using the proposed approach for stable navigation of unmanned and manned vehicles in difficult interference conditions.
