The article examines teachers’ communication flexibility as a key condition for the effectiveness of distance education in Ukraine in the context of social challenges, demographic change, and digitalization. It outlines factors of effective distance interaction: social presence, a balance of synchronous and asynchronous formats, well-structured instructions and learning organization, and teachers’ professional support. Communication flexibility is specified as the ability to vary channels, pace, style, and message structure, as well as forms of feedback, according to the learning situation and audience diversity. The paper proposes the «dual-format» principle and a communication flexibility model as a five-step sequence (a practical checklist) for planning and adjusting distance interaction, and substantiates the use of an «interaction styles» approach (including MBTI) as a tool of pedagogical mindfulness to adapt delivery and feedback without rigid labeling. It concludes that applying the proposed approaches reduces risks of isolation, increases the predictability of the educational process, and promotes higher learner engagement and learning outcomes.
