Abstract

A spatial assessment of potential environmental risks of the industrial zone of Zhytomyr was performed using GIS tools based on open geodata. The assessment was conducted based on four factors: proximity to industrial areas, highways, water bodies, and distance from green spaces. The modeling results showed that the average risk level (72.0% of the area) prevails, while high risk (16.7%) spatially gravitates towards the industrial core and transport infrastructure. The resulting map can be used for a preliminary assessment of the environmental safety of urbanized areas.
