Abstract

The paper examines the current state of development of the ecosystem services market in Ukraine and the problems of its legal and institutional support. It is determined that the current mechanism of nature management is sectoral in nature and requires adaptation to European standards. The role of decentralization and ecosystem payments in the formation of an effective natural resources management system is analyzed. The need to improve the legal framework for the development of local initiatives and attract additional financial resources is substantiated. It is established that the integration of the ecosystem services market will contribute to increasing the efficiency of environmental protection activities and sustainable development of territories. Special attention is paid to the role of local communities in the implementation of environmental policy. The conclusion is made about the importance of harmonizing the Ukrainian system of nature management with the pan-European space.
