Abstract

This article regards important issues of modern formation local government - legal principles of territorial communities. Analyses the history of the emergence of local communities and gives their definition and characteristic features. The author makes conclusions considering the functional purpose of local communitiesin Ukraine and improvements of the Ukrainian legislations in this sphere.
