Scope

The journal “Problems of Friction and Wear” presents the results of scientific research in the field of friction and wear, discusses topical issues of friction and wear theory, modern methods of studying the processes that develop on the surface layers of contacting bodies during friction, as well as methods of increasing the wear resistance of materials and restoring the surfaces of parts.

The collection is designed for scientific and engineering staff dealing with friction and wear.

Aim of the Journal

The aim of the scientific journal “Problems of Friction and Wear” is to disseminate the results of fundamental and applied research in the fields of tribology, materials science, and mechanical engineering, aimed at advancing scientific knowledge of friction, wear, and contact interaction processes of materials, as well as at developing effective methods for improving the durability and reliability of engineering systems.

The journal provides a platform for scientific communication among researchers, engineers, and professionals, promotes the integration of Ukrainian science into the international research community, and facilitates the implementation of innovations in industry, particularly in the field of applied mechanics of composite structures and engineering systems.

Objectives of the Journal

The main objectives of the journal are:

  • to publish original research articles presenting new findings in tribology, applied mechanics, and materials science;
  • to highlight the current state and future trends in the theory of friction and wear;
  • to disseminate the results of experimental and theoretical studies of processes occurring in the surface layers of contacting bodies;
  • to present advanced methods and techniques of tribological research;
  • to promote effective technologies for improving wear resistance, as well as for surface strengthening and restoration of machine components;
  • to facilitate the implementation of scientific developments in mechanical engineering, aviation, and other industrial sectors;
  • to ensure peer review and selection of manuscripts in accordance with international standards of academic integrity;
  • to support early-career researchers and foster the development of scientific schools in relevant fields;
  • to expand international collaboration and enhance the journal’s visibility in scientometric databases;
  • to promote the development of scientific research in the field of applied mechanics of composite structures and engineering systems, particularly in the context of training specialists within relevant educational programs;
