The availability of information resources in computer networks is largely dependent on the switches` capacity. System adaptive control errors, if they arise, can significantly impair functioning of packet switch. Two typess of system control errors have been detected in the course of an analysis of a system of adaptive control of packet switch capacity reallocation. These errors result in packet loss and/or in decreasing the possible occupancy of the switch with useful traffic. To reduce the negative influence of such errors on the equipment operation quality, we suggest modifying the bursty traffic smoothing mechanism as well as including a traffic trend predicting mechanism into the adaptive control loop.References
