ON THE PECULIARITIES OF SPORTS SPACE ORGANIZATION IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

The article examines the development and functioning of indoor sports facilities within educational institutions, which are a vital component of the system of physical education, sports, health improvement, and recreational leisure for students. The study investigates the current state of infrastructure, organizational and methodological conditions for using indoor sports facilities, as well as the impact of these objects on the level of physical activity among youth and the quality of the educational process. Trends toward the creation of modular ecosystems that combine multi–functional sports objects are identified, taking into account inclusivity aspects that influence their design expressiveness. The purpose is to determine the state of indoor sports facilities in educational institutions, analyze the factors hindering their effective use, and develop science– based recommendations for improving the quality of these facilities functioning to ensure systemic physical education and the athletic development of students. The research methodology is to address the stated problem, a combination of methods was employed: analysis of scientific, methodological, and regulatory literature regarding the design, equipment, and operation of indoor sports facilities; observation of the usage regimes of gyms, arenas, and other indoor objects; and a comparative analysis of data on the technical condition, equipment, and capacity utilization of indoor sports facilities in various types of educational institutions (secondary schools, vocational schools, and higher education institutions). Results. The results obtained indicate that a significant portion of indoor sports facilities in educational institutions is characterized by moral and physical obsolescence, insufficient equipment levels, and violations of safety and hygiene requirements. Insufficient utilization of certain facilities during extracurricular hours was revealed, pointing to the irrational use of infrastructure; meanwhile, some institutions experience overcrowding in gyms due to a lack of well–planned schedules and a deficiency of diverse sports and health programs. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty lies in the comprehensive approach to assessing the state of indoor sports facilities as an integrated element of the educational environment; in the clarification and systematization of factors determining their functional efficiency (technical condition, equipment level, organization of operating regimes, student demand, and financial/managerial support from the administration); and in the identification of trends toward creating modular ecosystems that combine multi–functional sports facilities. Practical relevance. The practical significance of the study is manifested in the development of recommendations for optimizing the use of indoor sports facilities, implementing multi–functional sports and health programs, expanding the involvement of non–profile groups (e.g., parents, staff of educational institutions), and forming modernized methods for organizing physical education that account for modern requirements for safety, the educational environment, and the development of inclusive sports infrastructure.
