Abstract

The article presents a scientific justification and a novel structural solution for the application of a system of sacrificial anodes and sacrificial corrosion sensor for corrosion protection of the fuselage bottom of a transport-category aircraft. Replaceable elements operating as anodes in the condensate environment accumulating in the underfloor area of the fuselage are used as sacrificial anodes. Periodically replaceable elements of the drain valve are employed as sacrificial corrosion sensor. The sacrificial anodes and sensors are manufactured from a material that, in a condensate environment and in electrical contact with the fuselage skin structure, forms a galvanic couple in which the more active element acts as a source of electrons and positively charged ions, resulting in its degradation while preserving the integrity of the primary structural elements
